Port McNeill, B.C. The PMCC gathered to celebrate our businesses and community with our annual business awards. Our community must be congratulated for overcoming incredible economic difficulty in 2019 caused by a labour dispute which left hundreds of people unemployed and businesses suffering collateral damage. And yet, we gathered, just before COVID-19 hit to celebrate the best of our community's entrepreneurial spirit.
First, thanks to the amazing staff and volunteers. The dinner this year was provided by The Sportsman's with help from Tasos from Telegraph Cove was fantastic. And as always Cindy Fisk and her crew brought a joy and professionalism to serving that all felt.
Jordan Riehl provided our entertainment and Gord Oppen of McNeill Media made that possible by setting up all our speakers, mics, and other tech things.
Damaris Sadler and Georgia from the Bread Cupboard had a team of incredibly gifted ladies who organized the decorations and flowers for the evening.
Neva Perrott was in charge of the bar, and handing our kindness with every 'Chocolate Cake'. There were many other people helping and making the evening possible, but now onto our sponsors and nominees!
Our Sponsors and Nominees were featured all night with a scrolling Power Point. Our Platinum Level Sponsors this year were given the unique opportunity to hold the floor for 10 minutes or so and present on what they have been accomplishing in their given areas of business. It was mentioned more than once by winners, or award sponsors that the 'sense of community' was strong in the room, and more so, on the North Island itself in this time more than ever before.
We are in this and all situations together - and we are stronger because of it.
Thank you, everyone who came, who contributed, who nominated and who voted. Thank you for being and outstanding community.
