Port McNeill, October 2, 2020 - Self-professed chocaholic and business owner Sue Manning is working to make it easier for people to get their cocoa fix. Something Chocolate is a Port McNeill business that has been producing high quality handmade Belgian Chocolate since 2015 and when COVID-19 hit Sue started to look for new opportunities to keep her business going and her chocolates in the hands of clients.

"We are members of the Port McNeill and Port Hardy Farmers and Artisans Markets, where we love to connect with our customers. With the current climate, small businesses like ours have been affected by the downturn in live events and opportunities for sales so we have been seeking other ways to connect with customers." says Manning.
In seeking opportunity, through the Port McNeill and District Chamber of Commerce Sue and others have discovered opportunities such as the free Island Comeback gift card and e-commerce program being offered by the Rural Island Economic Alliance.
Sue continued, "Island Comeback caught our attention, as business promotion is now more important than ever. Learning new marketing strategies and offering our customers gift cards is something that greatly interests us and we are excited to find out more in the upcoming training session."
The Island Comeback program offers businesses the opportunity to manage their own marketing on an innovative web platform, make new marketing connections, and being promoted through many venues such as on BC Ferries, and selling gift certificates online. You can find information about Island Comeback here, https://islandcomeback.ca/register/ or join a one hour webinar this coming Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to learn about this innovate program. You can register by email by contacting support@islandcomeback.ca
Sue went on to share a little insight into what happens after hours at Something Chocolate. "We're a family based business, my daughters and Mum often pitch in to help run things. And my husband's favourite chocolates are the Sheldans, they are chocolate covered caramel with pretzels inside and a pretzel and pink Himalayan salt on top. He says they go well with hockey, and beer, of course."
